Some of the hazards less obvious than the 1000 ft. long lake freighters that ply the waters, are the fog, jet skiers who ignore dive flags, and current that can drag down a navigation buoy. The best diving is close to shore. Although, drift diving can be done by heading out further.

Just up current from the CSL docks, is the wreck of the Monarch. A tug that sank on its side in 55 ft. of water, back in the 1930's. Relatively intact, this is considered an advanced dive, due to the unpredictable currents. A cable guides divers from the shore to the wreck.
